According to a United States survey, more Americans would rather receive something with a personal touch than an expensive item from the store. The study found that about 60 percent of people find gifts that come from the heart and feel more special over that of a lavish, expensive gifts.
Nearly double the number of people surveyed would rather receive this type of gift over something more generic worth $100. Even gift cards were found to be second-fiddle to something with a more personal touch.

An overwhelming amount of respondents said they’d be much more likely to remember a heartfelt and personalized gift over something more generic and store-bought. About half of respondents said they’d be much more likely to keep the gift forever if it had a personal touch added to.
